Amid the great Himalayas,Gulabi Kantha is situated at an altitude of approx 3650 meters above the sea level. As the name suggest, it’s a beautiful meadow mostly surrounded by pink colored flowers. It is a lush green high altitude meadow which lies on the way to Dodital. As per Hindu mythology, Dodital is also known as the birthplace of Lord Ganesha. Gulabi Kantha provides a 360-degree view of the high altitude peaks of Himalayas including Bandar Poonch peak, Kalindisirkala, Shivalik Mountains, and Chaukhamba peak. The place offers a scenic view of sunrise and sunset.

The place is untouched and lesser known to the trekking communities in India in spite of lying enroute Dodital trek. Recently a team of ITBP team came on a visit to explore the possibility to develop it for winter games such as skiing and other games.
Best Time to Visit: Gulabi Kantha Trek is pleasant for any month of the year. Best time of year include Oct to April. During winters, Gulabi Kantha covered in the thick blanket of snow best for skiers.


Trek Itinerary

Day 1 Dehradun to Hanumanchatti drive 170 Km (6-7 hours).

Pick up point will be Dehradun railway station or ISBT and after gathering, we will depart from Dehradun to Hanumanchatti at 7:00 AM which is 6-7 hours run from dehradun. Hanumchatti from dehradun is one of the most picturesque drives in the Himalayas through Mussoorie, Kemptyfall, Yamunapul,Nainbag , Damta , Naugaun, Barkot, Kharadi, Hanumanchatti along the Holy River Yamuna. It’s also the base camp for many treks like Dodital, Darwa Top, Sarutal, Dhinara Tal. Yamunotri (Source of Yamuna) is just 13 km far from Hanumanchatti. Holy Yamuna and Hanuman Ganga River also meet here.

Day 2 Hanumanchatti to Seema Thatch: 10 km trek (5-6 hours ) 3150 Meters.

  • Bhojpatra  or Himalayan Birch(Betula utilis)

After breakfast, Trek start from Hanumanchatti to Seem thatch via 1-2 himalayan villages, trek crosses the beautiful dense forest and reaches to Kandola (2655 meters). Luch will be serve in Kandola and after taking little rest , trek move Thatcha which is the base camp for day 2. Snacks with tea to be served while you are enjoying the beautiful sunset. Dinner with bonfire at 7:00 pm.

Day 3 Seema Thatch to GulabiKantha and back to Seema Thatch :10 km trek( 5 hours) 3620 Meters.

  • Altitude gain: 470 meters

On your route :-

  • Banjh Oak (Quercus leucotrichophora)
  • Burans (Rhododendron)
  • Beautiful valley with lots of different-2 flowers

After breakfast we will start our trek with packed lunch, but the excitement of the journey and conquering the peak would be far greater and much more worthy in compared to the challenges that lay ahead for the visitors. The climb is steep however absolutely worthwhile and one with rewarding views. It takes about 2-3 hours to reach there. On the summit, you are surrounded by mountain valleys and ranges. Panoramic sights of mighty Himalayas range mixed with dark blue and white clouds scattered like a painting sketched by nature just for you. You will see the Shivalik Mountains, Kalindi Srikala and Chaukhamba peak. Swargarohini also comes into view along with Black Peak and Bandarpoonch. Some of the other peaks you see include Gangotri, Jaonti, Yamnotri, Jorkanden and Draupadi ka Danda. After spending some time on the top and lunch over there, you head back to the campsite. After a wonderful day, spend the night in tents.

Day 4 Seema thatch to Hanumanchatti: 10 km trek (5-6 hour) (3120 Meters)

After getting breakfast we start to return back from Seema to Hanuman chatti. Lunch to be served at Kandola at 1:pm.
Reach the base camp Hanuman chatti at 4:00 pm. Share your experience along with group members and management team. Dinner at 7:00 pm with music and bonfire.

Day 5 Hanumanchatti to Dehradun: 170 km drive (6-7 hours).
