Right from the ridge, you can also add the entirety of the Gidara meadows to fit in your canvas.
Get ready because it is going to be a long ride on the road.

By evening, you will reach Barsu village, located 32km away from Uttarkashi and it is the most common base camp for the long-awaited trekking Dayara Bugyal.
If you have that relentless wanderer in you even after a long road trip, you can wander around the village flourishing with lush green fields, farms of beans, watermelons, pumpkins and many more
In the summer months, you can also be a part of the Butter festival.
Barsu is also known to be one of the most ancient Himalayan villages with houses that are five hundred years old. You can discover some more history, folklore, myths, by interacting with the locals and even from your guide.
Barsu has guesthouses which will accommodate you for a good night’s rest. This hamlet overlooks a Valley on one side, while the other side will show you the grandeur of the majestic Himalayan peaks immersed in the heavenly glories of the sky.
After a good night’s rest, you can now get ready to hike to Barnala Tal, a must-visit lake and a tourist attraction.
Once you walk from Barsu you will find yourself in the midst of silver oaks and deodar trees. Guided by scenic mountains like Draupadi ka Danda, it is guaranteed that the beauty of the trees on both sides of the trail and the mountains will soothe the ” tired” in you.
Although, the trail at first, maybe steep, in no time the forest opens up and you’ve reached your campsite. You may rest and start a few adventures as bird watching and nature walks.
However, the most noteworthy trek to be mentioned here is the 30 minutes trek to Barnala Tal. The lake freezes during winter and stays serene calm during the other seasons.

Do not miss out on the sunsets in this trek. You can hike up to Bakaria top (12500 feet altitude) for a landscape view of the meadows and watch the sun sleep in the arms of Bandarpoonch range and other stretches. Some other places you can explore are the Gidara Bugyal, a walk to the hills connecting Dayara to Assi Ganga Valley can turn the events to a fun one instead of a tiring one.
On your Route:
Day 1 and 2 was just a trailer.
Your trekking experience is set to get even better because today is the day you will hike to the place you’re meant to complete. The real trekking starts from here when the hours of walks increase along with the umpteen of places you’d like to see.
You need to have an adequate amount of rest before making a trip to the top of the Dayara Byugal trails.
The trail to Dayara Bugyal starts from Barnala campsite. A well laid some trail will help you ascend to your destination.
The trail exposes expansive grasslands, lakes and gurgling streams and the stretch of the Himalayan Mountains like Black Peak, Srikanth, Rudregaira, Gangotri I, II & III, Jaonli and there you go! You can finally say that you have seen the greatness of the Himalayan Peaks.
The trail is marked by rhododendron flowers and scattered herds of cattle grazing the meadows.
The hike is rather a peaceful one because of the shady trail and the bird calls amidst the towering trees and mountains. Rare species birds like Lammergaier and the Griffon can be sighted here and Dayara Bugyal takes pride to be a home for them.
After a few hours of hiking, you will reach Dayara Bugyal. And while words are not enough to explain the overwhelming power of this alpine meadow, you might just forget all the physical and mental war you’ve gone through.
Dayara Bugyal is a wildfire of lush green grasslands with budding flowers surrounded by trees and cradled by misty valleys. The meadows look like a carpet of grass that stretches infinitely. One cannot wrap up the sight just by elevating your feet once.
The grassland is considered to be sacred by the local habitats and is claimed to be home to angels.
On your Route:
View from Camp side:
You need to have a healthy and nutritious breakfast before you start your day. Free your mind and have a fresh new outlook. You will have to walk 6-7 hours not on a ramp but on a series of ascending and descending trails to Pichkiya.
While you enjoy nature’s goodness of the stretching alpine meadows and the alpine forests, in no time, you will have finally reached Pichkiya. The vibe from such positivity and immaculate beauty of nature will boost your excitement to get going!
Pichkiya is a small grassland campsite located between the alpine forests. Camp here for the night and have some quality time with your loved ones.
Descending down a trail seems easy. However, the mountain trail from Pichkiya to Barsu is slightly narrow.
But because of many years of trekking, the trails are well marked and bifurcated by thickets. You need not worry to get lost on your way back. An experienced guide will definitely lead you to the correct places at the right time.
You will descend down to your initial camp, Barsu. Halfway down the trail, you will witness Barsu along with other adjoining settlements with different colours of the tin roof.
If you haven’t got the opportunity to communicate with the people there, this is your last chance. You will have enough time since you will reach Barsu by afternoon. You may interact with the settlers there. This is where you complete the cycle of trekking or travelling: you garner experiences, stories, and you learn from them.
Soon you will realise that you have finally made it! You have successfully completed the trekking spree and now it’s time to go home. Leaving a trace of you here and there, life in Barsu will go on.
A night under starry nights, with the perfect music to set the mood, pull off an overnight in Barsu for the last time.
